About Us
BioPhenolics is a startup founded in 2023, originating from the University of Tsukuba. Combining over 20 years of research by Professor Naoki Takaya from the Life and Environmental Sciences at Tsukuba University and the bio-manufacturing experience of our representative Noriyuki Nukui, we established this startup to socially implement truly economical bio-chemical products.
We are not only developing smart cells that produce chemicals using synthetic biology methods but also working seamlessly on the development of fermentation processes, purification processes, and scaling up for commercial production.
Our bio-chemicals are made from biomass, allowing us to produce chemicals without relying on petroleum and achieving decarbonization. This is one of the critical technologies to mitigate the climate crisis. By socially implementing it in the early 2030s, we can transition from petroleum-derived chemical production to bio-methods, reducing the carbon dioxide emissions from the chemical industry. Additionally, since our raw materials are plants, we can capture carbon dioxide already released into the atmosphere while producing the necessary chemicals for our lives. By recycling bio-chemicals without burning them and extending their lifespan, we believe we can lower the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and mitigate the climate crisis.
Features of BioPhenolics
R&D specializing in aromatic chemicals
Extensive Pipeline
We are conducting research and development specializing in aromatic chemicals, and have an extensive pipeline including phenols, anilines, and pyrazines.
Research and Development Cycle with a View to Mass Production
A definite step up
We develop smart cells, the cultivation process, the purification process, and the mass production process in a seamless manner, and we are developing technologies that can be introduced on-site.
